FitCooks To Hold 1st Of Pop-Up Event Series At Cafe Reconcile

NEW ORLEANS – FitCooks Chef Bryan Armand will hold the first of his FitCooks Pop-Up Event Series on Thursday, October 20, 2016, at Café Reconcile, 1631 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., at 6:00 p.m.

The FitCooks Event Series is a four course, upscale dining experience based on healthy eating principles. Each event features a guest speaker providing a lecture and Q&A on topics ranging from nutrition and dietetics to metabolism, body composition and general wellness.

Chef Armand has cooked in fine dining restaurants and has worked as fitness trainer for the past two decades. “I have seen the difficulty clients encounter in reaching their fitness goals without employing the right type of diet strategies,” said Armand. “The majority of what is touted as ‘fitness food’ is uninspiring and monotonous. My goal is to change that by teaching my clients how to cook healthy food in a delicious way.”

Calling upon his experience and influence working under Michelin starred chefs, such as Angelo Sosa and Michael Cimarusti, and in recent years, Chip Flanagan of Ralph’s on the Park, Armand’s goal is to elevate the foods most conducive to health and fitness to the level and style of upscale restaurant cuisine. FitCooks provides private chef services and eclectic multi-course events, rooted in healthy eating principles.

“The mission of FitCooks is not only to provide nutrition and culinary education to people, but to prove that, with the right techniques and ingredients, health food can be taken to an entirely new level of passion and diversity,” Armand said.

Menu items at the Café Reconcile event include Kale Salad with caramelized onion, roasted red pepper vinaigrette dressing and sprouted wheat bread croutons; grilled petite filet mignon with smoked hummus, pico de gallo and grilled asparagus; sautéed jumbo shrimp with shitake mushroom, truffle oil brown rice grit cake, tomato, roasted garlic sauce and arugula salad and creamy banana and espresso smoothie with fresh vanilla bean and shaved dark chocolate for dessert.
