NEW ORLEANS (press release)— Finding the baby usually means you buy the next king cake. But with Blue Bikes, searching for Baby Blue could earn you up to 12 months of free rides.
With the recently announced Blue Bikes expansion, there are more than 800 pedal-assist e-bikes in communities around New Orleans. About one-fifth of Blue Bikes have a king cake baby hidden within their designs. Today through Mardi Gras Day (Feb. 21), riders who find the baby on a bike and post photos on social media will be entered to win prizes, including a grand prize one-year Blue Bikes membership ($300 value).
If you ride a bike and find a king cake baby, show us by posting photos on your personal social media, tagging Blue Bikes (@BlueBikesNOLA) and using the hashtag #SearchingForBabyBlue. Those who do will be entered in the contest. Just like you need to look before you bite into that slice of king cake, check the whole bike before you ride – babies are featured in different places on the bikes, and some are harder to spot than others. “Now that we’ve added 300 additional pedal-assist e-bikes to our fleet, it’s easier than ever for folks to hop on a Blue Bike and pedal to parades, parties, and family gatherings,” said Patrick Urbine, community engagement manager for Blue Krewe. “We hope that the #SearchingForBabyBlue contest will make Carnival season even more fun as you experience the festivities and enjoy the ride.”
In addition to the one-year membership grand prize, Blue Krewe will select winners for other prizes, including helmets, T-shirts and other swag items.
After the contest ends on Mardi Gras day, Blue Krewe will select a grand prize winner through a random drawing of all riders who entered the social contest.
