Huyen Nguyen is the newest addition to the JEDCO Finance Department. As the Business Development Officer, Huyen supports JEDCO’s mission to enhance the economic climate in Jefferson Parish through small business financing. JEDCO offers several non-traditional loan options to support economic growth: the JEDgrow Loan Program, the SBA 504 Loan Program, and—coming soon—the JEDCO Fisherman Fund, which targets businesses in the seafood industry.
Huyen brings 15 years of commercial lending experience to JEDCO. She worked with Louisiana Economic Development on small business recovery and has extensive knowledge of state and federal loan programs. Her creative approach to financing makes her an asset to the JEDCO team, where she is eager to strengthen the community, grow the organization’s loan portfolio, and increase lending capacity through competitive grants.
“The finance team is very passionate about making a difference for the greater good and creating long-lasting impacts on lives of small business owners,” says Huyen. “We value and promote diversity and inclusion in every aspect of our business. No business is too small or big for our team.”
In 2020, 29 percent of approved loans were for woman-owned businesses, 38 percent were minority-owned businesses, and 22 percent of funded or approved loans were for true startups.
