BATON ROUGE (AP) — The remaining federal disaster recovery centers open in Louisiana to help flood victims are closing this week.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency says the centers in Tangipahoa and Ascension parishes close Wednesday, while the centers in East Baton Rouge Parish shut down Thursday and the final center in Livingston Parish shutters Friday.
FEMA says more than 92,000 people had face-to-face meetings at its disaster recovery centers, which once were opened across 18 parishes after the August flooding. The centers offered access to FEMA representatives and officials with the U.S. Small Business Administration and other agencies assisting with recovery efforts.
The SBA will continue to operate its own disaster loan outreach and business recovery centers until further notice, according to FEMA.
