FedEx Debuts New Service In 12 Cities, New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – On Monday, Dec. 15, more than 22.6 million packages are expected to flood the global FedEx pick-up and delivery system in a single day. The company expects to move more than 290 million shipments between Black Friday and Christmas Eve, an 8.8 percent increase in overall year-over-year peak seasonal volume.

Just in time for the holidays, FedEx Office announced the launch of its “Pack Plus” service – a new in-store packing solution catering to large, bulky and fragile items. The new service has rolled out in 12 cities across the U.S. this holiday season, including New Orleans.

The new service, designed to deliver peace of mind and reduced stress to shippers, brings together specially trained Pack and Ship professionals with fully, customizable packaging solutions to address customers’ atypical packing and shipping needs.

From bulky sports equipment to oversized frames, Pack Plus offers custom packing services with more than 20 specialty boxes, as well as other packaging options to safely deliver even the bulkiest and most fragile of items – all backed by the FedEx Office ® Packing Pledge and the FedEx money-back guarantee.

To accommodate the high package volumes, Fed-Ex reps say they have more than 300,000 team members, 100,000 vehicles, 650 aircraft, 1,800 FedEx Office locations and 1,200 FedEx Express and 560 FedEx Ground facilities — including 46 major hubs.

Fed-Ex will be using many modes of transportation for holiday deliveries including boats and gondolas, electric tricycles, all-electric delivery vans and hybrid-electric delivery vans.
