Fast-Growing City Of Youngsville Creating Its Master Plan

YOUNGSVILLE, LA (AP) — Youngsville, Louisiana's fastest growing city, is working on its first-ever master plan.

A Lafayette Parish area that once was known for sugarcane and cattle pastures is booming with subdivisions, restaurants and stores. Youngsville's population of 12,000 is a 350 percent increase from 1990.

The Advertiser’s Jessica Goff reports the city plans an open house Tuesday to discuss its new master plan, which maps out infrastructure expansion for the next decade.

City Mayor Ken Ritter describes it as a "10-year road map."

The plan was developed with research conducted by students from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

Pamela Gonzales-Granger, the city engineer, says the master plan isn't in its final draft. She's hoping residents attending Tuesday's open house offer suggestions.
