Facebook’s COO Sandberg Speaks At Sacred Heart

NEW ORLEANS – The Academy of the Sacred Heart and Garden District Book Shop hosted an evening with Sheryl Sandberg in conversation with Mary Matalin on Tuesday, May 9, in the Nims Fine Arts Center on Sacred Heart’s campus.

Sandberg, chief operating officer at Facebook and international best-selling author of “Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead,” has released a new book with Adam Grant – “Option B: Facing Adversity, Building Resistance, and Finding Joy.”

Matalin is a highly regarded author, television and radio host, and widely sought after political contributor, pundit and public speaker.

Sandberg and Matalin discussed building resilience and moving forward after life’s inevitable setbacks. After the sudden death of her husband, Sandberg felt certain that she and her children would never feel pure joy again. Grant, her friend and a psychologist at Wharton, told her there are steps people can take to recover and even rebound. “Option B” combines Sandberg’s emotional insights and Grant’s eye-opening research on finding strength in the face of adversity.
