NEW ORLEANS – This week Facebook began testing a new local news space called “Today In” in six cities including New Orleans.
“Today In” is designed for people to discover and engage with local news and information, including community updates, recent news, group discussions, and local events. The six U.S. cities selected for the test are: New Orleans, LA; Little Rock, AR; Billings, MT; Peoria, IL; Olympia, WA; Binghamton, NY.
Users in test cities can find this new surface in the bookmark section of the Facebook app at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
The test will help Facebook continue to learn how to better connect people to local news and information, hoping to facilitate more meaningful connections between people and their communities, including their local publishers and content creators.
