NEW ORLEANS – The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ), Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) and the Native American Journalists Association (NAJA) will present the ultimate industry event, Excellence in Journalism (EIJ), from Sunday, September 18 – Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel, 500 Canal St.
More than 1,000 top professionals in journalism are slated to attend for what is considered the industry’s best training and networking event, featuring deep dive training workshops and discussions of industry issues including how the media covers mass murders and a spotlight on “the Future of Investigative Journalism.”
Since 2011, the Society of Professional Journalists and the Radio Television Digital News Association have partnered to host an annual conference that provides journalists with the industry’s best training and networking opportunities. The conference was named the EIJ conference in order to provide an opportunity for other organizations to partner with SPJ and RTDNA on the event. Following five successful Excellence in Journalism conferences, SPJ and RTDNA welcome the NAJA as an EIJ collaborator for the 2016 event in New Orleans.
EIJ was last held in New Orleans in 2011. This year’s event is projected to have an economic impact of nearly $1.2 million.
