On this week’s podcast, real estate developer Louis Lauricella talks about his team’s vision for the $1 billion River District neighborhood, which he says may be the “largest, private, non-energy project in the history of our state.”

Louis joined Lauricella Land Company over 38 years ago as Director of Development and has been Managing Member since 2004. During this time, he has developed/redeveloped over 3 million square feet of commercial/retail space, secured over $525 million in financing, and structured partnerships and joint ventures with some of the top companies in New Orleans and beyond. During his tenure, Lauricella Land Company has been directly involved in over $700 million of construction.
Louis’ portfolio of accomplishments includes development of the Elmwood Center, Astor Crowne Plaza Hotel, Elmwood North Shopping Center, Elmwood Office Park, Palace Theaters, Elmwood Hampton Inn & Suites, Midtown Square Shopping Center, Elmwood Self Storage and Wine Cellar, Manhattan West Shopping Center, Lapalco Village Center, and Manhattan Crossing Shopping Center. Most recently, he is leading the River District Neighborhood Investors, LLC team to develop the 37- acre tract adjacent to the New Orleans Convention Center and fronting the Mississippi River.
In addition to his responsibilities with Lauricella Land Company, L+A Retail (its affiliate brokerage arm), and RDNI, Louis serves as Vice-Chairman on the Board of Trustees for Children’s Hospital of New Orleans, and on the Boards of GNO, Inc., the Jefferson Business Council, the Jefferson Community Foundation, and the New Orleans Recreation Department (NORD) Foundation. He also leads the Lauricella Land Company Foundation and is active in many professional organizations.
A third generation New Orleanian and lifelong resident of New Orleans, Louis holds an undergraduate degree from Harvard as well as Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degrees from Tulane.
