Entergy New Orleans To Offer Customers Free Tax Prep Feb. 3

Volunteers to help qualifying customers claim refunds on Feb. 3

NEW ORLEANS – “Throw me somethin’ mister” is a familiar phrase around the Crescent City this time of year, and as everyone prepares to catch as many Mardi Gras beads as they can, Entergy New Orleans is gearing up to make sure local customers claim something else – the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).

On Saturday, Feb. 3, the company is partnering with United Way of Southeast Louisiana and Total Community Action, Inc. to offer free tax prep to qualified residents on what has come to be known as "Super Tax Day. "

This year’s event will be held at the Xavier University Convocation Center, 7910 Stroelitz St., from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. where trained volunteers will be on hand to provide assistance.

In Entergy’s four-state service area of Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi and Texas, the company has helped approximately 111,000 customers receive some $195 million through the EITC program since 2011. And as part of that, more than 18,000 qualified New Orleanians have received more than $34 million over the past seven tax seasons.

“The free services provided on super tax day and at local volunteer income tax assistance sites through mid-April help power our customers’ lives,” said Charles Rice, president and CEO of Entergy New Orleans. “Through claiming the EITC, customers can use the credits earned to meet their immediate needs or to make long-term investments in their futures.”

To find out more information, locate nearby sites and learn about qualifications and documents needed, customers can visit entergy.com/freetaxhelp. In some locations, local community partners are offering drop-off tax prep services, appointments for tax prep services, financial coaching, budget workshops, free legal services and more.
