Dr. Norman McSwain, a pioneer in the field of trauma medicine, served as the New Orleans Police surgeon for more than 30 years before he passed away in July 2015. Dr. McSwain worked closely with all first responders; working alongside them in the field, teaching them, and caring for them. Many years ago, he started a First Responders walk-in clinic at Tulane to serve the global healthcare needs of those who serve our community. To honor his memory, THS is renaming and dedicating the expanded clinic.
