Dr. Joe W. Ramos to Lead LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center

Ramos Headshot2NEW ORLEANS — LSU Health, LCMC Health, Tulane University and the Louisiana Cancer Research Center have named Joe W. Ramos, PhD, director of the LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center.

Ramos will continue in his role as CEO and director of the LCRC while he leads LSU’s effort as the lead applicant institution for National Cancer Institute designation. He’s also a member of the LSU Health New Orleans School of Medicine faculty.

In his new role, Ramos will oversee community outreach and engagement programs designed to help promote and educate people about cancer prevention, detection and treatment. He also will continue to lead the LCRC’s mission to work across academic institutional boundaries to reduce the impact of cancer throughout Louisiana and the Gulf region.

LSU Health and LCMC Health have each committed $50 million to the LSU LCMC Health Cancer Center aimed at changing the trajectory of cancer prevention, detection, and treatment throughout Louisiana. The center will use the funding to expand cancer-focused research and multidisciplinary care programs which will support the organization’s journey to NCI designation.
