HOUMA, LA (AP) — Officials say construction on downtown Houma's Ellender Parking Lot may be finished ahead of schedule.
The public parking lot has been closed since Oct. 27 for repairs and replacement.
The deadline for contract completion on the roughly $300,000 project is slated for mid-February. But parish officials said favorable weather has allowed construction crews from Morgan City-based Gray Construction to remain ahead of schedule.
Parish Capital Projects Administrator Jeanne Bray tells The Courier’s Chris Leblanc the construction crews are to remain on or ahead of schedule. But, due to contract stipulations, Bray said she can't say for sure that the project will be complete before the February deadline.
Once the lot is complete, cars will no longer be allowed to park on the nearby bridge that crosses Bayou Terrebonne.
