JEFFERSON, LA – Dot's Diner, the popular local eatery, is kicking off a month-long city-wide pet food and supply drive on July 1, 2015, from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., at the diner’s 2317 Jefferson Hwy. location, that will benefit the Humane Society of Louisiana.
A collection box will be placed in each of the six Dot's Diners, and patrons who donate a bag of pet food, canned food or any pet supply will be given a 20-percent discount off of their meal ticket.
Power tools and a new 20-inch boy's BMX bike donated from Mike the Bike Guy on Magazine Street will also be raffled off, with the drawing to be held on July 31, 2015.
Dot's Diner has been collecting spare change for the Humane Society of Louisiana for the past several years, which has added up to more than $25,000 since the collection program began.
"We are grateful and delighted that Dot's Diner and Larry Katz, Dot's CEO, have developed and are about to launch this much-needed pet food and supply drive that will benefit the residents of our no-kill sanctuary,” says Jeff Dorson, HSL Director. “We often take in castaways, orphaned and unwanted animals, so this is a wonderful way to support these efforts and make sure that all 100-plus animals in our care receive lots of attention and plenty of food."
"This will be a fun way to thank our customers for their continuous generosity and support of the Humane Society and their important work," says Larry Katz, CEO of Dots Diner.
Established in 1988, the Humane Society of Louisiana is one of the state's largest animal advocacy organizations and operates the Enoch J. Donaldson Animal Sanctuary in Mt. Hermon, LA.
