Dooky Chase’s Will Use $40K from AMEX to Combat Street Flooding

NEW ORLEANS – Dooky Chase’s Restaurant has received a $40,000 grant from American Express as part of the “Backing Historic Small Restaurants” grant program. Owners of the storied Orleans Avenue restaurant, which opened its doors in 1941, will use the money to install permeable paving and make other improvements.

Quoting the National Restaurant Association, AMEX said that more than 110,000 restaurants permanently closed their doors between the start of the pandemic and December of last year. The grant program, which benefited 25 restaurants, is designed to lend a helping hand.
