NEW ORLEANS– The Dillard University Office of Church & Community Relations has partnered with Bethany United Methodist Church, Holy Cross Lutheran Church, New Orleans Louisiana Baptist Charities and Pentecost Baptist Church to host the Heal NOLA Fest on Saturday, June 10, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 6154 Press Dr., from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Heal NOLA Fest aims to improve the community holistically with health care screenings, financial, legal and housing information in a festive setting with live gospel performances, event organizers said. The event will have food and beverages for purchase and more than 50 vendors, offering a range of free services and information including diabetes testing, men’s healthcare, banking and mortgage information, a domestic abuse forum, a cancer educational forum, employment services, job training programs, medicaid expansion updates, vegetable gardening activities, group exercises and cooking demonstrations.

“We came together to stress the importance of annual health screening, and address the social determinants that affect the health of individuals, families and the community,” Nick Harris, director of the office of Church & Community Relations, said. “And we wanted to have these critical services done in a welcoming and entertaining environment.”
