NEW ORLEANS – Deutsch Kerrigan, LLP announced Sloan L. Abernathy has been hired as the newest associate in the firm’s New Orleans office.
As a New Orleans litigation attorney, Abernathy defends insurance companies from personal injury claims brought against their policy holders.
His areas of practice include:

• Premises Liability
• Products Liability
Before joining Deutsch Kerrigan, Abernathy worked in the Jefferson Parish District Attorney’s Office. As an attorney in that office, he prosecuted a number of rape, murder, and racketeering cases, gaining extensive courtroom and jury trial experience.
Abernathy is a former federal law clerk for Judge Brian Miller, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas. As a clerk, he spent time researching and preparing orders on complex issues including labor and employment law, ERISA, Social Security Act claims, mass tort litigation, and products liability.
