Desire NOLA Partners With YLC To Award Up To $25K To Emerging Entrepreneurs

NEW ORLEANS – Desire NOLA announced its partnership with the Young Leadership Council's (YLC) Leadership Development Series (LDS) to award a grant between $10,000 to $25,000 to the series winner.

"The YLC Leadership Development Series is a great example of what we sought to achieve 10 years ago when Desire NOLA was founded," Christopher Kane, co-founder of Desire NOLA, said. "It is an honor to be able to provide assistance to any motivated entrepreneur that completes this prestigious program."

The Leadership Development Series, a 10-week seminar class, teaches YLC members the basics of running a nonprofit organization. Attendees gain insights into the various aspects of a successful organization including fundraising, community relations, volunteer recruitment, finances and marketing. Class members then develop a concept for a project or organization based on their learning and a winner is chosen.

Desire NOLA will award between $10,000 to $25,000 to the winner of the LDS program at the ceremony.

"The LDS project leaders and the YLC Board of Directors were extremely excited to be approached by Desire NOLA about this partnership" Harry Barton, Project Leader for YLC's LDS, said. "Desire NOLA's generous donation of funding to the winning LDS project brings an added element of interest to the already dedicated program participants and will allow the winning team to begin making a more immediate impact on the community."
