DeRidder Considers Ordinance Limiting Use Of Storage Units

DERIDDER, LA (AP) — Officials in DeRidder are considering an ordinance that would limit how long residents could use temporary portable storage units.

Public Works Director Todd Sherman tells the American Press some residents are allowing the storage pods to remain on their property for too long.

The new ordinance would put a 30-day limit on the units' use and would limit the storage area to the driveway or parking area of the home that is using them.

Sherman also recommended using a permit process for homeowners or tenants who need to use the pods for longer than 30 days.

A public hearing on the proposed ordinance will be held Sept. 28.
