Denham Springs Council OKs Food Truck Regulations

DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (AP) — After several months and a rewrite, Denham Springs has officially adopted rules for food trucks operating in the city.

From now on, vendors who want to do business in the city must operate out of a health-inspected commissary — such as a restaurant or catering kitchen — where food can be prepared, trash disposed and a truck parked overnight. The first proposal handed to the council would have forbidden food trucks from operating within 300 feet of brick-and-mortar businesses that sell food.

The Advocate’s Steve Hardy reports the ordinance passed Monday does not contain such a restriction.

The original proposal was tabled in October, and new language was introduced earlier this month.
