NEW ORLEANS – Dr. Kristine Strickland, executive dean of the Delgado Community College West Bank Campus, has been named chancellor of Fletcher Technical Community College in Houma, LA.
Strickland was named to her Delgado position in December 2013. As executive dean of the West Bank Campus, she is responsible for the leadership of approximately 3,000 students. In addition to her role as executive dean, Strickland provides leadership for the Delgado Office of Student Financial Assistance, serving students across the entire college.
“I will always treasure my time at Delgado Community College and in particular at the West Bank Campus,” Strickland said. “It has been an honor and privilege to work with our community, business and industry partners. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with the students, faculty and staff at Delgado and I know that they will continue the tradition of excellence that is the Delgado experience. Delgado and the West Bank Campus will continue to have a positive impact on the Greater New Orleans community.”

Davis said that an interim executive dean for the West Bank Campus will be announced soon.

Yet, we believe Dr. Strickland is the perfect fit for the students, the college and the community it serves and she will continue leading our efforts to deliver world class academic and workforce training."
Strickland has almost 20 years of professional experience in higher education. Prior to her service at Delgado, she served as vice president for enrollment management and student development at Our Lady of Holy Cross College in New Orleans; vice president for student services and student financial assistance with the Louisiana Community and Technical College System; and as dean of student affairs at Fletcher Technical Community College in Houma, where she has now been named chancellor.
In addition to her current responsibilities, Strickland serves in leadership roles within the community and her profession. She has served for a number of years in a chair capacity with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools – Commission on Colleges for accreditation purposes. In addition, she is chair of the Board for the Jefferson Chamber Foundation Academy and serves on the Executive Board of the Algiers Economic Development Foundation and the Boy Scouts of Southeast Louisiana. She has also served on the Board of the West Bank YMCA and as president of the Louisiana Banner Users Group.
Strickland holds both a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and a master’s degree in higher education administration from Ohio University; a doctorate in leadership for higher education and a post-master’s certificate in enrollment management from Capella University. She is also an alumna of the Harvard University Institute of Higher Education Management and has earned a certification in enrollment management from Noel Levitz.
Strickland grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. She has lived on the West Bank for almost two decades, and currently resides in Algiers. She is married to Adam Strickland and has four children, Adam, Kamron, Mary and Kierney.
