Delgado Proposes ‘Opportunity Zone’ For North Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE – Metro Councilman John Delgado introduced legislation Thursday to establish an Opportunity Zone in north Baton Rouge.

If passed by the Metro Council, the ordinance would establish an Economic Development District roughly bounded by Florida Boulevard on the south and City Limits on the north and east. The District would provide tax and other incentives to encourage business creation and expansion.

"North Baton Rouge is underdeveloped and residents lack job opportunities that would make our entire city better," Delgado said.  "Incentivizing businesses with this ordinance is one important step we can take towards improving our overall economy and the quality of life for many of our residents."
