Delgado Holds Ribbon-Cutting For Marvin E. Thames Sr. Learning Resources Center

NEW ORLEANS – On Friday, September 18, 2015, Delgado Community College held a ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Marvin E. Thames Sr. Learning Resources Center at the Delgado City Park Campus, 615 City Park Avenue in New Orleans.

         The late Dr. Marvin E. Thames Sr. was a Delgado president who served the college for more than 30 years.

         The 60,000-square-foot, $14 million facility houses the Moss Memorial Library, and replaces a building destroyed by Hurricane Katrina’s floodwaters in August 2005. The library has operated from temporary quarters since Katrina. Moss Memorial Library is the hub for the network of libraries in the Delgado Community College system. FEMA recovery funds paid for the new facility.

         Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds were used to pay for the design and construction of the new Learning Resources Center.
