“Delgado Community College is one of Louisiana’s largest and most diverse higher education institutions.”
A proud member of the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce since 2004, Delgado Community College offers tremendous economic impact for the region, from training and growing the workforce to inspiring future business leaders and entrepreneurs. Currently celebrating its 100th anniversary, Delgado is one of the state’s largest and most diverse higher education institutions, serving over 15,000 students across seven locations.
This year, Delgado was recognized as one of the nation’s Top 50 community colleges by the higher education research firm Intelligent.com. In addition to the national ranking, the school’s Science & Mathematics division was named top in the nation, and its Hospitality Management Associate Degree and Business Administration Associate Degree programs were also spotlighted.
“Delgado reflects the incredible diversity of our city and region,” says Chancellor Dr. Larissa Littleton-Steib. “This has always been a strength for our institution.”
Dr. Steib is working to build and enhance relationships with regional business, industry, and government organizations, making certain that the curriculum at Delgado, on both the academic and workforce development sides of the college, is aligned properly with regional economic development and workplace needs.
Delgado’s Workforce Development and Technical Education unit promotes personal, professional, and economic development through initiatives designed to maintain a skilled workforce and enhance quality of life while providing customer-driven assessment and training programs. Meanwhile, thanks to Ochsner Health and the State of Louisiana, the $38.6M Charity School of Nursing and Division of Allied Health Building (currently under construction) will benefit the 1,200 nursing and allied health professionals Delgado produces each year.
