Delgado Community College Offers New Technology Courses Amid Growing New Orleans Market

NEW ORLEANS — Delgado Community College is now offering a new suite of internet technology courses that will equip locals with the necessary skills to advance their careers within the technology workforce. The course session dates range from Oct. 28, 2019 through June 20, 2020, with instruction taking place at Delgado’s City Park Campus on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with exclusions during the holidays.

The IT Quartet Course Suite courses will enable current working professionals to earn their certifications in CompTia A+, Network+, Security +, and AWS Cloud Foundations, while also providing individuals with no experience to launch a career in Information Technology. IT Foundations, Computer Networking, Cybersecurity, and AWS Cloud Foundations are the four courses included in the suite. Interested participants can register for all four courses at a discounted rate of $885, or enroll in each course individually.

IT Foundations is the first course in Delgado’s IT Quartet Course suite. The course takes place from October 28, 2019 to January 25, 2020, and is available for $249. As the preferred qualifying credential for technical support and IT operational roles, the course provides foundational IT skills across a variety of devices and operating systems. Students will learn the competency of entry-level PC computer service professionals in installing, maintaining, customizing, and operating personal computers.

The Computer Networking course dates are January 27, 2020 through March 28, 2020, and is available for $249. Throughout this session, students will learn the skills to design, configure, manage, and troubleshoot wired and wireless networks.

From March 30, 2020 through May 30, 2020, the Cybersecurity course will be instructed. For $249, students will acquire the knowledge and skills required to install and configure systems to secure applications, networks, and devices. They will learn to perform threat analysis and respond with appropriate mitigation techniques, participate in risk mitigation activities, and operate with an awareness of applicable policies, laws, and regulations.

The final course, AWS Cloud Foundations, is $149 and will be instructed from June 1, 2020 through June 20, 2020. The course is intended for individuals that are looking to build and validate their overall understanding of the AWS Cloud and is useful for individuals in technical, managerial, sales, purchasing, or financial roles who work with the AWS Cloud. This certification will help professionals to better interact with developers and other IT professionals engaged in AWS-related projects. Students will learn about the fundamentals of the AWS Cloud, build their cloud skills, and grow their professional credibility by preparing for the AWS Certified Cloud Foundations exam.
