NEW ORLEANS – Delgado Community College has established a new partnership with Copa Airlines, a major international airline based in Panama City, Panama.
The partnership will improve the experience of people traveling to New Orleans to participate in the educational programs offered by Delgado Community College at the Delgado Maritime and Industrial Training Center, school reps said.
The agreement provides additional benefits for students and faculty flying to the Delgado training center from a variety of destinations.
Copa Airlines has been providing scheduled flights to and from the New Orleans Louis Armstrong International Airport for the last two years, and connecting travelers from New Orleans to more than 55 destinations in 31 countries in Central America, South America and the Caribbean.
Among the leading airlines in Latin America, Copa Airlines is committed to providing its customers with world-class service such as complimentary meals and beverages, including wine and spirits; and checked bags with bilingual flight attendants, airline reps said. Copa Airlines also sets the industry standard for on-time performance. The airline has been recognized for a fourth consecutive year by FlightStats as the most punctual airline in Latin America, and by the Official Airline Guide (OAG), for the second consecutive year, as the second most on-time airline in the world.
Delgado Community College is the largest community college in Louisiana and serves more students than any other higher education institution in New Orleans, school reps said. Its more than 110 educational programs are a major factor in workforce and economic development in Louisiana and the Gulf region of the United States.
The Delgado Maritime and Industrial Training Center is a new, state-of-the-art center in New Orleans for education in fields including industrial firefighting and safety, maritime operations and safety (SCTW), homeland security and leadership skills. Delgado was the first community college in the nation to offer a bridge simulator for marine navigation. Students come to the center year-round from Exxon, Shell, BP and a large number of maritime companies and other industries and organizations.
