NEW ORLEANS — The Delgado Community College Automotive Department is partnering with the Wild Wheels Car Show, scheduled for March 17-19, at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, to offer Student Day on Friday, March 17. The program offers any interested student the opportunity to learn first-hand about the custom and specialty automotive aftermarket from industry celebrities and leaders, as well as receive VIP early access to the show.
Last year, more than 350 high school students attended the show, formerly called World of Wheels, on Student Day.
Student Day 2017 begins at 9:30 a.m. on Friday with a general meeting to welcome participants, instructors and chaperones and offer some short presentations by notable individuals in the custom and specialty automotive aftermarket who will offer automotive stories and answer questions from the students. After the presentations, the students are given open, early access to the Wild Wheels show, allowing them ample time to visit with the many vendors and car owners one-on-one before the show opens to the public at 4:00 p.m. Student Day participants will also receive a wristband that allows them entrance into the show free of charge for the whole weekend. The cost for participation in Student Day is just $10 per person, which includes all activities and free admission to the Wild Wheels show for the weekend.
“This is an incredible opportunity for any interested student to get a hands-on, behind-the-scenes chance to delve into the multi-billion-dollar specialty automotive aftermarket industry at this region’s most extensive and notable show,” said George Torlage, Delgado Automotive Department instructor and co-organizer of the New Orleans Student Day. “The event gives students unprecedented access to vehicles on display, sponsors and exhibitors, and the car owners who share their knowledge of and passion for automobiles.”
