NEW ORLEANS – Dr. Stanton McNeely, vice chancellor for institutional advancement at Delgado Community College, has assumed the responsibilities of interim vice chancellor for workforce development and technical education.
He will serve in both capacities until a search can be conducted for a permanent vice chancellor for workforce development and technical education.
Delgado Chancellor Joan Davis made the announcement as a result of the previous vice chancellor for workforce development and technical education, Dr. Larissa Littleton-Steib, leaving Delgado to become chancellor of Baton Rouge Community College.
“Dr. McNeely’s achievements and leadership in the critical area of institutional advancement are very impressive,” said Chancellor Davis. “His knowledge of and participation in regional business and economic development activities, combined with his proven effectiveness in higher education administration, make him the ideal person to lead workforce development and technical education on an interim basis.”
Delgado Workforce Development provides worker training for business and industry throughout the Greater New Orleans region as well as continuing education courses for area residents. Some 10,000 individuals are served by the unit, which includes the Delgado Maritime and Industrial Training Center. Notable initiatives include Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses and the Career Pathways partnership with the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board (S&WB) and the GE Foundation.
The Delgado Technical Division is responsible for providing instruction in technical career fields to about 1,600 enrolled students, leading to associate degrees, certificates and diplomas. It offers instruction primarily at the Delgado City Park, Sidney Collier and Jefferson locations.
Delgado Institutional Advancement is responsible for all college fundraising initiatives including internal giving campaigns, endowments, scholarships and alumni engagement efforts; all college marketing, communication and public relations activities; and supporting the goals and objectives of the Delgado Foundation.
A native of New Orleans, McNeely holds degrees in higher education leadership (Ed.D., Northcentral University); business administration (M.B.A., Loyola University, New Orleans); and accounting (B.S., Our Lady of Holy Cross College, New Orleans). He has more than 20 years of career experience in higher education administration and teaching.
McNeely became vice chancellor for institutional advancement at Delgado in November 2013, following four years as dean of planning and institutional effectiveness and interim dean of student affairs at Fletcher Technical Community College in Houma. He also served three years as vice president of external affairs and institutional effectiveness, three years as vice president for institutional planning and advancement, three years as director of student enrollment, and four years as director of admissions and career services at Our Lady of Holy Cross College.
He serves on a wide variety of community organizations in the Greater New Orleans region, including the Algiers Economic Development Foundation (past president), the Westbank Business and Industry Association, the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce and the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce.
