The family-owned Deanie’s Seafood Restaurant will open its third location at the end of 2017. Deanie’s on Magazine will be located at 2200 Magazine St., a corner building at Jackson Avenue that housed Charcoal’s Gourmet Burger Bar before it closed last spring. The two-story building will features a spacious wrap-around balcony for outdoor dining with a nice view of Uptown and the New Orleans skyline and seat approximately 200 guests.
Deanie’s on Magazine will be Deanie’s Seafood’s first new location since Deanie’s in the French Quarter opened in late 2001 in the former D.H. Holmes Department Store annex at the corner of Dauphine and Iberville. The original Deanie’s Restaurant and Seafood Market is now located at 1713 Lake Ave., in Metairie. The restaurant has been owned and operated since 1980 by the Chifici Family and proprietor Barbara Chifici. The family celebrated their 35th anniversary as owners/operators of Deanie's Seafood in Bucktown in April.
The new 6,000-square-foot restaurant will feature many of Deanie’s standard dishes including fried seafood, po-boys, seasonal boiled seafood like boiled crawfish, shrimp and Louisiana blue crab, Crawfish Étouffée, New Orleans Barbeque Shrimp and seafood salads. Deanie’s on Magazine also will offer an oyster bar dedicated to raw and chargrilled Louisiana oysters and new items such as New Orleans Barbeque Shrimp tacos and catfish sliders.
