Dean To Seek Reelection In St. Tammany

MANDEVILLE, LA – St. Tammany Parish Councilman Marty Dean (R-Dist. 1) will seek reelection in October, the councilman announced Wednesday.

Dean, 56, was first elected to the Parish Council in 2003, after serving two terms as an at-large councilman in the city of Covington.

Dean, married to the former Cynthia Ann Cottrell, is the father of Jonathan Schoen, 23, an LSU graduate currently enrolled in Our Lady of the Lake College. He holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and two master's degrees, in mental health counseling and business administration. A resident of Council District 1 for more than 30 years, he has a proven record of accessibility and proactive leadership.

"I've worked hard for the people of this community for nearly 20 years, and I'm hopeful they will entrust me with service for another term," Dean said. "My experience in government and my educational background that enables me to better understand and serve people at all levels – both individually and in the business community – makes me well-suited to continue representing the people of District 1."

Now administrator at Pontchartrain Health Care Centre in Mandeville, Dean also continues a private practice as a licensed counselor.
