NEW ORLEANS – Since its creation in 1974 by the Louisiana Legislature, the Downtown Development District has worked to drive development in the city’s center. The group says that downtown has experienced tremendous growth in recent years with more than $7 billion in investment, 7300 residential units and the expansion of retail. Recently, DDD president and CEO Kurt Weigle announced his departure at the end of 2020. As the DDD begins the selection process for its next leader and continues the path through recovery of the coronavirus impact, it is seeking input.
