DatMamboShirt Debuts Boys’ Mardi Gras Shirts

NEW ORLEANS (press release) — New Orleans–based clothing brand DatMamboShirt is expanding its product line ahead of Carnival season with the introduction of boys’ Mardi Gras shirts, marking the first time the company has offered children’s apparel since its founding in 2018.

Founded by New Orleans native Claiborne Schmidt, DatMamboShirt is known for men’s casual shirts inspired by traditional Latin American guayaberas and embroidered with New Orleans–themed designs. Made from a lightweight linen-cotton blend, the shirts are designed for warm-weather events including Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest and other spring celebrations.

The new boys’ line is available in sizes 4/5 through 12/13. With the addition, the company now offers sizing from boys’ size 4 through men’s XXXL, allowing families to coordinate outfits across generations.

“DatMamboShirt started as a Mardi Gras shirt, so it felt natural to bring that same spirit to kids,” Schmidt said, explaining that customers had requested boys’ shirts for several years.

The launch reflects the family-oriented nature of the business. Schmidt said his wife, Isabel, and their children have been involved in supporting and promoting the brand since its early days, as it grew from a single Mardi Gras design into a recognizable local label.

DatMamboShirt products are available online and at select local retailers in the New Orleans area. The boys’ Mardi Gras shirts are being released in limited quantities for the 2026 Carnival season.
