Date Set For Fifth Annual Running Of The Santas

NEW ORLEANS – “Running of the Santas,” the most anticipated and entertaining Christmastime tradition in New Orleans, returns for a fifth year on Saturday, December 12, 2015, with thousands of participants dressed in festive costumes to celebrate the annual extravaganza. After half a decade, the Holiday “Fun Run” has quickly become one of the city’s largest, signature Christmastime events.

Last year’s “Running of the Santas” attracted more than 3,000 revelers from across the Gulf Coast to the streets of downtown New Orleans to participate in Christmastime merrymaking. This year’s holiday block party kicks off at 2:00 p.m. from the “South Pole” located at The Rusty Nail at 1100 Constance St. where party-goers can enjoy great food by Rock-n-Sake Bar and Sushi, special holiday drinks and musical entertainment by DJ Scott Satchfield. The crowd then embarks on a four block “Fun Run” at 5:45 p.m. to the “North Pole” at Generations Hall at 310 Andrew Higgins Dr.

The holiday tradition calls for participants to dress up in their most creative Christmas and holiday attire. Category 6 will rock the house from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. immediately followed by the outlandish “Best Holiday Costume” contest. Music headliner Flow Tribe will close out the 2015 “Running of the Santas” as they take the stage from 8:30 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.

“Running of the Santas” is the premier holiday season event, which started in 1998 in the streets of downtown Philadelphia when 40 close friends decided to suit up in holiday décor and go bar hopping. More than a decade and a half later, the “Running of the Santas” event has grown across the world with more than 20 host cities from California to the shores of New Zealand.

Advanced tickets to the “Running of the Santas” are discounted at $15 and VIP tickets are $75.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit That Others May Live Foundation. The foundation is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2002. The foundation provides scholarships, family counseling, and aid to surviving children of United States Air Force (USAF) Rescue Heroes who gave the ultimate sacrifice during a rescue mission. The goal of the program is to ensure that every child of a fallen personnel recovery service member receives an opportunity for success.
