Dat Dog, Vaucresson Sausage Co. Partner For Proprietary Product

NEW ORLEANS – As a locally-driven and much beloved hotdog joint, Dat Dog is collaborating with New Orleans’ Creole sausage king, Vaucresson Sausage Company, to produce the new Dat Dog Creole hot sausage.

This unique hot sausage is now available at all Dat Dog locations. Utilizing any or all of the 30 toppings available at Dat Dog restaurants, guests can create their very own “Jazz Improvisation in a Bun.”

The relationship between these two companies has its origins over 50 years ago, when Dat Dog Founder and CEO, Constantine Georges’ father, Dennis, and Sonny Vaucresson, father of current Vaucresson president, Vance Vaucresson, shared business ventures through the local wholesale food distributor, Imperial Trading Company.

“The Georges family has always admired the Vaucresson Sausage Company and understands what the family name means to New Orleans’ Creole culture,” said Georges. “We plan to celebrate what our fathers started the best way we know how—by serving the great people of New Orleans and beyond, delicious locally made comfort food. It only seems natural for family ties to cross again, and we are honored to carry the Vaucresson hot sausage in our restaurants.”

Since 1899, the Vaucresson family has held ground in the heart of New Orleans’ Seventh Ward commercial corridor. Butchers by trade, the Vaucresson family has survived the Depression and Hurricane Katrina, passing down the family business from generation to generation of Vaucressons. Sonny Vaucresson was the first African-American to operate a business on Bourbon Street since Reconstruction, opening his shop in 1964. The Vaucressons have been involved with the heart and soul of New Orleans from the first days of the French Quarter and Jazz and Heritage festivals. To this day, they are the only remaining original food vendor at Jazz Fest.

“I'm happy to continue business with the Georges family and provide our delicious product, which makes your mouth feel happy and tummy feel yummy, at Dat Dog,” said Vance Vaucresson.
