GONZALES, LA (AP) — Crown Crafts Inc., a Gonzales-based baby products maker, doubled its earnings for the second quarter of the fiscal year to $1.6 million, or 16 cents per share.
However, Crown's profit for the same period last year included an after-tax hit of $657,000 for legal fees and a settlement involving a patent dispute over a mesh crib liner.
Revenue for the quarter, which ended Sept. 27, rose 1.3 percent to $20.7 million.
E. Randall Chestnut, chairman, president and chief executive officer, tells The Advocate Crown improved sales even though the year-ago results were boosted by shipments after a competitor left the market.
