NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The warm weather has brought the crawfish out early.
Jeff Pohlmann of Today's Ketch in Chalmette tells NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune’s Todd A. Price the supply is limited right now.
The prices for boiled crawfish are relatively low for this early in the season. Last weekend, Today's Ketch had them for $4.99 a pound.
Louie Lipps of the Crab Trap in Laplace says the crawfish are small to medium.
Larger crawfish will come out later in the season.
Crawfish and other seafood are always in high demand during Lent. The early Lent this year, Feb. 10 through March 24, might also be good for crawfish lovers.
