NEW ORLEANS – GIFTED Healthcare, a national nurse-owned healthcare staffing company, announced it has created a position of President and Chief Operating Officer (COO), tapping Kay Cowling for this new leadership role.
Cowling’s national network and reputation of providing quality nurses to hospitals in need will expand career options for nurses, GIFTED reps said.
GIFTED currently offers travel, infusion, private duty, LTAC, government as well as local contract and per diem opportunities.
According to Cowling, “GIFTED Healthcare is a quality focused organization with offerings that address the continuum of care. The team at GIFTED has a culture that embodies the soul of the nurse together with a passion for building a world-class, innovative, high-performance organization.”
“Kay’s vast experience in building sustainable and scalable companies will greatly benefit GIFTED Healthcare,” said PK Scheerle, RN, CEO of GIFTED Healthcare. “Her strategic management, attention to technology, and growth experience brings a new level of expertise to our growing company. With Kay’s leadership, we are adding depth and experience to our already talented leadership and nurse executive team.”
Most recently, Cowling was CEO of Fastaff and US Nursing, leading it out of a downturn to be the 4th largest travel nursing company at her departure in 2014. Prior to being recruited to Fastaff, Cowling was SVP of OneCall Care Management (the largest Workers Comp Network). She began her career in healthcare in 2002 and led ATS Health Services as CEO until merging it with a national company in 2007. Before this, Cowling was a co-founder of Accounting Principals, building it in multiple states prior to selling to what is now Adecco. Cowling has been a strategic adviser to numerous digital healthcare startups, and has consulted with GIFTED Healthcare since late 2015.
