NEW ORLEANS – Councilmember LaToya Cantrell, District B, and Councilmember Susan Guidry, District A, will host a town hall discussion tonight, Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2015, at 5:00 p.m. at City Council Chambers, 1300 Perdido St., New Orleans, on the proposed smoke-free ordinance, and asks you join the movement for a #smokefreeNOLA.
“I want to make sure all of our citizens voices are heard on this issue, especially those most affected by this proposal,” Councilmember Cantrell said in a press statement. “These are people who work in the bars and casinos, musicians and the friends and family of these workers, who don’t have the luxury of choosing where they can work, but are often forced to risk their health in order to feed their families.”
Cantrell said the health and well being of the citizens of New Orleans is a top priority and residents should stand up for the many musicians, bar workers and casino workers who have been unfairly exposed on a daily basis to secondhand smoke.
