Council On Aging St. Tammany To Hold Senior Resource Festival

COVINGTON, LA – Tapping into community resources and professional services can sometimes be challenging for seniors. The annual Senior Resource Festival, hosted by the Council on Aging of St. Tammany (COAST), aims to fill the knowledge gap and share information.

On Thursday, May 28, 2015, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., COAST staff and volunteers and local vendors will fill the Castine Center, 63350 Pelican Dr., in Mandeville, with information and resource outreach to help seniors connect with the services they want and need.

Information about health and wellness, safety, finances, legal issues, estate planning, senior advocacy and retirement communities will be available for all attendees aged 60 and older. Several Parish Government departments will also be represented. Rockin' Ron will provide entertainment and many door prizes will be given away.

"The Resource Festival is always a great opportunity for St. Tammany's seniors to engage and learn, and it's a fun time, too," said Julie Agan, executive director of COAST. "We expect a large turnout and, of course, the more the merrier. We work hard all year to distribute information about our agency, but this event is a big boost for participation and membership, which is free for seniors."
