Company Fined $1M On Waste

GREENVILLE, MS (AP) — An aviation company has been fined $1 million for handling hazardous waste at Greenville Mid-Delta Airport without a permit.

California-based Leading Edge Aviation Services Inc. operated a commercial aircraft painting facility at the airport. The plant closed last year.

A government investigation revealed that in April and May 2010 the company failed to properly handle the waste from a paint stripping process when it stored it in an open pit without a permit.
