ALEXANDRIA, LA (AP) — Changes are coming to the Rapides Parish Coliseum, including a new executive director and renovations.
Coliseum Authority Chairman Jimbo Thiels tells the Town Talk of Alexandria an executive director is expected to be in place by April 1. He says the committee has received more than 10 résumés "without even soliciting" for them yet.
The Coliseum has been without an executive director since 2013. The facility closed in April 2014 to await renovations, which began in April 2015. The $22.9 million renovation project is scheduled to be completed in December.
Alexandria City Councilman Roosevelt Johnson says area colleges and universities have shown interest in being among the first to hold events when the Coliseum in ready, as have the Harlem Globetrotters.
