NEW ORLEANS — Commander’s Palace restaurant has relaunched a line of cocktail mixers inspired by co-proprietors Ti Adelaide Martin and Lally Brennan. The three mixers — Tequila Mockingbird No. 2, Lime Daiquiri and Adelaide Swizzle — are featured in the duo’s book “In the Land of Cocktails: Recipes and Adventures from the Cocktail Chicks.”
The Commander’s Palace signature cocktail mixers were created in collaboration with fellow New Orleans-based and female-owned craft cocktail company El Guapo. With branded labels reminiscent of the striped awnings adorning Commander’s Palace, the mixers are designed to capture the restaurant’s New Haute Creole experience and Louisiana charm.
“The art of crafting a great cocktail is not only something we pride ourselves on at Commander’s Palace but also a time-honored family tradition,” said Martin in a press release. “We are so excited to bring back these popular signature cocktail mixers so that Commander’s Palace enthusiasts across the country can experience the restaurant’s esteemed hospitality and fan-favorite drinks.”
Legendary Commander’s Palace matriarch Ella Brennan famously held a happy hour at her home next to the restaurant each day at 4 p.m., a practice that inspired Ti and Lally’s love of a properly made cocktail. The restaurant — which celebrated its 130th anniversary this year — has come to be known for its wine and spirits program just as much as its New Haute Creole cuisine. It is a 12-time Wine Spectator Grand Award winner and was a finalist for the James Beard Foundation’s Outstanding Wine and Other Beverages Program Award in 2016.
