NEW ORLEANS – Less than a year ago, CN announced that Ochsner Hospital for Children had been selected as the sole U.S. beneficiary of the 2015 CN Miracle Match campaign, a charitable initiative to rally communities to support children’s hospitals in North America.
CN pledged to match up to $300,000 in donations to help expand the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Ochsner Hospital for Children. On Wednesday, March 9, 2016, CN and Ochsner celebrated a successful campaign and CN presented a $300,000 check at a gathering of community donors and pediatric caregivers at Ochsner. More than 600 donors supported the campaign for the PICU expansion, raising a total of more than $625,000, including matching funds.
“The expansion of the PICU at Ochsner Hospital for Children will help us care for even more children with highly complex medical conditions,” said Vincent Adolph, M.D., Interim Pediatrics Chair. “This is critical to the future or our city, our state and our region. These dollars really will make a lifesaving difference for so many families. We are doubly grateful for the support of CN in making the donations from our community go even further.”
“So many have shown such great generosity and we are proud to work with the Ochsner Hospital for Children to help improve the quality of health care available to children in New Orleans and Louisiana,” said William Noland, superintendent of CN based in Geismar, Louisiana. “We want to say thank you for stepping up and helping us build stronger communities through CN Miracle Match”
Ochsner Hospital for Children is only the second U.S. institution to be selected since the CN Miracle Match program began in 2006.
