Clerk Dale Atkins, City Of New Orleans To Celebrate American Archives Month With Tours

NEW ORLEANS – The City Council will declare October 2015 as Notarial Archives Month in New Orleans. To celebrate, Orleans Parish Civil Clerk of Court Dale Atkins will present one hour tours of Notarial Archives that will be available on Thursday October 8, 15, and 29, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Amoco Building, Room 360, on 1340 Poydras St.

         New Orleans has one of the richest land records archives in the nation, with documents dating back to 1735, and reflecting its history as a French and Spanish colony. The Notarial Archives staff assists the public with architectural, historical and genealogical searches. The tours are first come, first served and are limited to 20 people per tour. The tour is free.
