The Jefferson Parish Council has approved construction of a new strip mall in Metairie. On Wednesday, October 8, the unanimous vote put plans in motion to make way for a strip mall across six lots once zoned for residential use.
According to Adriane Quinlan with The Times-Picayune, the mall will be located on the western face of Clearview, one block south of its intersection with West Metairie Avenue, between King and Prince streets.
While some residents argue the increased traffic will be disruptive, other say the newly commercially zoned area will bring commerce and already accommodates heavier traffic patterns.
