METAIRIE, La. – The developers of the Clearview City Center redevelopment announced today the demolition of the existing structure at 4236 Veterans Blvd. to start construction of The Commons of Clearview City Center, a new 10,476-square-foot retail center located two blocks from Clearview.
In December 2021, Ruby Slipper announced plans to open its “all day brunch” restaurant in a 4,000-square-foot space at The Commons with indoor and outdoor seating. In addition to the custom-built space for Ruby Slipper, construction of the retail center — expected to be complete by March 2023— includes modern facilities and aesthetics to better accommodate tenants and customers, green landscaping, additional parking and a fully reengineered site plan.
“The Commons represents the next phase in our vision for Clearview City Center, with exciting tenants like Ruby Slipper serving as ideal dining options for the thousands who will soon live, work and shop at Clearview, as well as so many others in the surrounding area,” said Thomas Richards, Clearview City Center managing partner. “We designed this retail center to be fully integrated with the broader redevelopment and footprint of Clearview City Center, recognizing the benefit of having adjacent properties like The Commons as easily accessible amenities.”
The start of construction at The Commons marks another milestone for the transformation of Clearview City Center into a mixed-use development. In May 2022, Target began a major renovation to update its 160,000-square-foot store at Clearview City Center, including modernizing its storefront, reconfiguring its interior design and layout, and relocating and enhancing its online order pick-up space.
Additionally, construction is underway on additions to Clearview City Center, such as Ochsner Health’s Super Clinic, slated for completion in October, and The Metro at Clearview, an upscale five-story luxury apartment community expected to be complete in 2023. These anchor tenants will soon join others like Regions Bank’s new branch at the corner of Clearview Parkway and Veterans Boulevard, Bed Bath & Beyond and Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux.
