NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans will host a Disaster Recovery Business and Employment Information Job Fair on Thursday, May 26, 2016, from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at JOB1, 3400 Tulane Ave., to supply information about how residents can pre-qualify to work with the City’s contractors following a disaster. All interested residents over the age of 18 are invited to attend.
The City is also inviting members of the business community who are interested in subcontracting opportunities that would help with disaster recovery. In particular, companies with equipment such as tandem trucks (at least 18 cubic yards), self-loaders, roll-offs, bulldozers, forestry trucks, skid steers and front end loaders may qualify for subcontracting opportunities. All interested businesses, especially small and local businesses and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBEs) are encouraged to attend.
The City’s Department of Sanitation, the Office of Supplier Diversity and the Office of Workforce Development/JOB1 are hosting the informational fair along with the City’s current disaster recovery contractors, who are responsible for debris removal and recovery. JOB1 is the City’s network of workforce partners that provide services to various job seeker populations and employers.
