City To Give Out $1,000 In Tricentennial Neighborhood Grants

Have an idea to celebrate New Orleans’ tricentennial next year?

The City of New Orleans wants to hear it—and will dole out up to $1,000 per neighborhood to bring ideas to life.

Residents, neighborhood groups and business owners can apply for a Tricentennial Neighborhood Grant to create a neighborhood project or host an event that brings the community together and celebrates New Orleans’ 300th year.

The application deadline is Jan. 8. The project must take place between Jan. 29 – Oct. 31, 2018.

Projects can be a neighborhood beautification project, a neighborhood celebration or a building project that involves local youth. All ideas will be considered.

Applicants must be affiliated with a formal or informal neighborhood association group. Applicants need to fill out project guidelines, a budget and an outreach communication plan to include everyone in the neighborhood.

The City of New Orleans has identified 73 official neighborhoods, meaning up to $73,000 may be doled out for this effort.
