NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, City officials and FEMA will celebrate the ribbon cutting of NORDC’s new Rosenwald Center, located at 1120 South Broad Street in the B.W. Cooper neighborhood, at 2:00 p.m.
The new Rosenwald Center is an $8.5 million, 15,580 square-foot multi-purpose recreation center that includes an indoor basketball court, weight room, classrooms for dancing, music, pottery, arts and sewing, snack bar, public meeting rooms and multi-purpose sports field.
This facility replaces the previous recreation center that was severely damaged during Hurricane Katrina and later demolished.
Construction on the $1.8 million outdoor pool and pool house will begin later this year and be open for next summer.
